Every morning at 9:27AM another post is published. If you are not subscribed, be sure to! Jesus is coming and we want to help the Elect to be prepared for this day and the time of trouble that the LORD Jesus warned us of. Every post we make is founded on Biblical Scripture and you are welcome to challenge everything we post. We are not masters of the Faith but are slaves of it. We could get some things wrong, we are humble enough to admit that. However, the prophecies are clear. We are at the end of the Last Day!

So there are a lot of people that add to what is written in the Bible. This of course is nothing new, they do it all the time. A Jew back in the first century would not even comprehend that this was a debate today. We will get into the reasons why in this post.

The First Passover

Let me take your mind back to the first Passover. The month is Nissan, the day is the 14th, this corresponds to the gregorian calendar late March or early April. The people were commanded to not wait for the bread to rise but make "unleavened bread". Because in haste they would exit Egypt and have no time for the bread to rise. But, what else did Israel have to drink? Wine, yes fermented wine. How do we know that it was fermented wine? Because it is Nissan 14, the spring time. They have fermented wine from the last years grape harvest.

Refrigeration

Think about the climate in Egypt,Egypt's climate is predominantly arid and desertic, characterized by hot, dry summers and mild winters. Sunshine is abundant throughout the year, while rainfall is a rare occurrence for most of the country. There was no refrigeration back then so the only way to preserve was to ferment. Hence there was no "grape juice" in the month of Nissan but alcoholic wine.

Grape Vine Growth Cycle

Late Winter - Early Spring (February - April): Dormancy & Weeping

Dormancy (February - March):

The vines are seemingly asleep, resembling bare, woody canes. This is a crucial resting period. Pruning, the essential task of removing most of the previous year's growth to shape the vine and regulate the next season's crop, is typically done during this time.

Weeping (March - April):

As soil temperatures begin to rise, the vine's sap starts to flow. You might see "tears" or droplets of sap exuding from pruning cuts. This signals the vine is waking up.

Spring (April - June):

New Growth & Flowering

Bud Break (April):

Triggered by warming temperatures and increasing daylight, the dormant buds begin to swell and burst open, revealing tiny green shoots. This is a vulnerable time for the vine, as young shoots are susceptible to frost damage.

Shoot and Leaf Growth (April - June):

The new shoots grow rapidly, developing leaves that are essential for photosynthesis – the process of converting sunlight into energy for growth and grape development. Tiny clusters of what will become grapes (inflorescences) also become visible.

Flowering and Fruit Set (May - June):

The inflorescences bloom with tiny, often inconspicuous flowers. Grapevines are typically self-pollinating. Successful pollination results in "fruit set," where the flowers drop and small, green berries begin to develop. The success rate of fruit set significantly impacts the potential yield.

Summer (July - August): Berry Development & Veraison

Berry Growth (July): The young grapes are small, hard, and very acidic. They continue to grow in size. Vineyard managers focus on canopy management (positioning leaves for optimal sun exposure and air circulation) and may thin fruit to improve the quality of the remaining grapes.

Veraison (Late July - August):

This is a beautiful and pivotal stage. "Veraison" (pronounced veh-ray-zon) marks the onset of ripening. Red grape varieties begin to change color from green to shades of red and purple, while white grape varieties become more translucent and golden. The berries start to soften, and sugar levels increase while acidity decreases.

Late Summer - Fall (August - October/November): Ripening & Harvest

Ripening (August - October): Following veraison, the grapes continue to accumulate sugars, develop flavors and aromas, and see a further decrease in acidity. Tannins (in red grapes) also mature. Winemakers and vineyard managers closely monitor the grapes' physiological ripeness and sugar/acid balance to determine the optimal harvest time.

Harvest (Late August - November):

This is the culmination of the year's work! The timing of harvest depends heavily on the grape variety (early-ripening vs. late-ripening), the intended wine style (e.g., grapes for sparkling wine are often picked earlier), and the season's weather conditions. Harvest can be done by hand or machine.

Late Fall - Winter (November - February): Leaf Fall & Dormancy

Leaf Fall (November - December): After harvest, as temperatures drop and daylight shortens, the leaves change color (often to vibrant yellows and reds) and eventually fall from the vines. The vine begins to shut down its metabolic activity.

Dormancy (December - February):

The vine enters its winter dormancy period, gathering energy reserves in its roots and woody parts to prepare for the next growth cycle.

How Long Do Grapes Last After Picked?

Grapes are quite perishable and won't last very long once picked if left at room temperature without refrigeration.Generally, you can expect grapes to last for about 1 to 3 days when stored at room temperature. For longer storage, refrigeration is highly recommended, where they can last for one to two weeks. Are you laughing yet? Yes, grapes were customarily picked off of the grape vine and then hurried to the wine press because that is the only way they could preserve the drink.

Yeshua Drank Fermented Wine Often

Now with your insight of the grape life cycle you see that the modern day claim that Yeshua drank unfermented wine is ludicris. Even the children were given diluted wine with water. Why? Because that was a way of purifying the water. Wine has antibacterial properties amongst other things that made water safe to drink. So, even as a child Yeshua would of drank wine. This was a common staple amongst people of old times.

Demonizing Wine

In this modern world we know what a "Karen" and "Kevin" are. It is unfortunate that anyone with those names now have to deal with the unfavorable characteristics that society has given. They are actually very good names. Hypothetically, the attitude that is prescribed to those names can be prescribed to anyone saying that Yeshua never drank wine. It is a plain lie and you should not trust or believe anything they say.

Unfermented Wine At Passover? NO Way!

The question of whether Jesus used unfermented wine at the Last Supper is a topic of debate, especially among Christian groups that promote abstinence from alcohol. Here's a breakdown of the historical, cultural, and scriptural context:

🕊️ 1. Historical and Cultural Context

  • In 1st-century Jewish Passover traditions, fermented wine was the norm, not grape juice. Grape juice without refrigeration or pasteurization would ferment naturally within a few days.

  • Fresh grape juice was only available right after harvest (late summer/early fall), while Passover is in early spring — long after fresh grapes were available.

  • Ancient Jews often diluted wine with water, but it was still fermented. This was standard practice to reduce intoxication and stretch the wine.

📖 2. Biblical Language

  • The Greek word used in the New Testament is "oinos" (οἶνος), which refers to fermented wine, not grape juice.

  • No separate Greek word for "grape juice" existed in the New Testament text.

  • When Jesus says, “I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until…” (Mark 14:25), the term "fruit of the vine" was a Jewish idiom for wine — commonly fermented.

🍷 3. Theological Meaning

  • Wine, especially fermented wine, had symbolic significance in Jewish tradition:

    • It represents joy (Psalm 104:15).

    • It was used in temple sacrifices and Passover.

    • Jesus’ use of it may emphasize the bitterness of sin and the joy of redemption in the New Covenant.

🧃 4. Where the Unfermented Wine Idea Comes From

  • The idea that Jesus used unfermented wine largely comes from 19th-century temperance movements, especially among Methodists, Baptists, and Seventh-day Adventists.

  • It was a cultural reaction to alcohol abuse and not based on 1st-century Jewish practices.

Don't Waste Your Time Debating

If someone wants to hear the truth and the cold hard facts then share this with them. If not then don't. The "goodie too shoes" are a mess to deal with. These are like the Scribes and Pharisees that add extra laws and extra meanings to the WORD of God to their own destruction. Jesus and the Apostles drank real wine, fermented wine, like real men do!

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart. Psalms 104:15
And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? Judges 9:13

The Most Idiotic Excuses

I just had to include this here. Someone once told me, "Why would Jesus defile His body with alcohol?". Well Mr Imbecile , drinking alcohol does not defile your body. There is no where in the Bible that says drinking alcohol defiles your body.

What People In The Bible Were Forbidden To Drink Wine

There were people in the Bible that were forbidden to drink wine, furthermore a Nazarite was prohibited from drinking wine or eating grapes or raisins. Priests were forbidden while on duty to drink wine, but certainly enjoyed it off duty! Kings and rulers were advised not to drink lots of wine so that their judgment was not impaired. It is important to point out that Jesus was a Jew and never took the Nazarite vow!

The Bible and Wine

No where in the commands of God do you see  anything that prohibits drinking fermented wine. This is made up by people today. However, the Bible does state that one that drinks alcohol continually will ruin themselves. Let me ask you this, was Noah a drunk because He got drunk every once in a while? No! He was considered a righteous man of God.We can also mention other righteous men that got drunk. Lot and Uriah the Hittite. The Key here is balance and integrity!

Weak Men

Weak men are not balanced men, either way; one can be so self righteous that they change the scriptures to matched their screwed up version of Holy. Other men can be plain drunks who have no self control and stay drunk all the time. One is just as bad as the other, these are weak men and neither have any part in the Kingdom of God.

Refraining From Alcohol

Some men think that total abstinence is the way to go for them. If that is the case, then more power to them individually. Yet, do NOT preach this to the rest of us who know the truth about the fermented wine at Passover. Passover is fermented wine that Christ our LORD used to resemble His blood. There are no weak men in the Kingdom of God. Self control is a "fruit" of the spirit. Additionally, we who have the Heavenly hope look forward to drinking the wine with Christ in His Kingdom! But Yes, even Christ Himself is waiting for us before he takes another drink of that wine. Check out this Scripture.

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. Matthew 26:29

Christ Waiting

Yeshua has been waiting a long time for us. The fact that He says He will not be drinking wine also lets us know He is waiting for that special occasion, that appointed time, when He resurrects all His faithful followers and takes us who are alive to be with Him. Could you imagine the Apostles Peter, James and John seeing Yeshua as King for the first time after their resurrection? Yes, that will be a time to celebrate with wine!

Party Time

That's right, it is party time when we get there! You are not going to see any "goodie too shoes" there either telling us that we are all sinners for drinking wine. We will be celebrating the new Kingdom with wine and with our LORD Yeshua the Messiah! It will be the best party ever and celebrations in our incorruptible bodies drinking the wine and being merry! There will be laughing, singing, dancing and plenty of wine for everyone. We will not run out either because our LORD will turn water to wine if we get low!
