Self justification, self righteousness, self entitlement, ego, it's all the same and it's gross. We should strive to be the exact opposite of this. We are followers of Yeshua, are we not? What business is self justification to us? Such a fundamental flaw to explore.
Me
There is no "me", this is a delusion in language. It communicates that you are separate and sustainable on your own. It almost resembles the "I Am" which indeed we know is God. The root of "me" in Hebrew doesn’t come from a single independent word like in English, but rather from personal suffixes that evolved in Proto-Semitic and were preserved in Hebrew grammar.
Ego Kills The Man Of God
By obeying God's commands you are confirming the "ego" is not part of your makeup. This self glorification that we witness today is a sham. For example have you ever seen someone build their fortunes on the backs of men, then claim they did it single-handedly? All for the "self" all for "me". This lack of appreciation is the ego that kills the man of God. You fall from grace, God's Commands are no longer important to you. Your leadership has made you delusional because by it you acquired wealth, fame, and now men worship you because you are rich. Yet, the gates of hell are waiting for you, the same as the rest.
23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” Matthew 19:23-25
Ego Makes You Weak
We remember Nebuchadnezzar whom God humbled because of his ego. The rich acquire power and wealth, then spend the rest of their days worrying how they will keep it. Yet, they will not, they will die as the rest. Modern women with their make up, men with their fake muscles and pride, they are banking on their ego to make them successful. However, in reality if they opened their eyes at a graveyard, they would realize their true future.
Egotistical Jews
Ah yes, the promise made to Abraham then down through the milenia to the Jews. What a wonderful promise already fulfilled. Yet, what do we see? The commands of God came down though this nation, yet, their ego got in the way. Instead of following the commands of God, they made their own observances; adding to the WORD of God. So much so that Yeshua Himself said this.
7 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.”
9 He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 11 But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban”—’ (that is, a gift to God), 12 then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, 13 making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.” Mark 7:7-13
Do you think the LORD was referring to the ego that they gave into? Definitely! Let's look at another scripture. These 2 scriptures have something in common, lets see if you can pick it out?
13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Colossians 2:13-17
Although the Jews put upon men extra laws and commands they were not legitimate. However, how was one to know which ones were legitimate or not back then? The Jews were God's chosen people, no? This is where Yeshua comes in and lets everyone know what these "robbers" were doing. It's no secret that Yeshua hated the teachings of the Scribes and Pharisees. John the baptist hated them as well, calling them offspring of vipers!
Commands Of God
Many apostate Christians and people who just do not know what is going on here will tell you that Colossians chapter 2 is speaking of abolishing the Commands of God outside the 10 commandments, are you nuts? No, this was speaking of the extra Law's that they were imposing upon the people, making it impossible for them to get right with God. For example if there is an emergency on the Sabbath, yes you can take care of it if it cannot wait, but that does not mean that you do not observe the Sabbath! The Scribes and Pharisees added thousands of Laws to the Torah and wrote them down. They still have them to this VERY DAY! So that no one could possibly follow them and therefore never get right with God. It is these laws that Colossians is speaking of here! We know what Yeshua said about the Law of God, maybe now His words will make more sense to you check it out:
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-20
Practicing The Torah
So, YES, you must follow Torah but as for all those extra Laws and Rules, NO, ABSOLUTLY NOT, you do not have to follow them. Notice he tells you that you must be more righteous than the Scribes and Pharisees, how does that make sense? They would put extra sabbaths were they should not be, they would make people do ceremonial washing, which was a pain! In fact they put their hand written law's above the Law of God making it invalid as Yeshua points out. So yes, you must be more righteous than them, because they DISHONOR the Torah, by putting their ordinances or hand written laws above the Commands of God!
Clear Picture
So NOW, do you understand what Colossians meant here? Paul was NOT telling you to do away with the Commands of God, he was telling you that you DO NOT have to listen or obey all the extra laws that they were enacting to oppress people. Paul also referred to them as "ordinances". Do not think that the Law of God is abolished, that is insanity!
Apostate Christendom
There is no doubt, the book of Revelations talked a lot about this great Harlot, also the beast with 7 heads and 10 horns, also the rider of the white horse, all antichrists! Any legal organized religion, LEAVE! In fact do not belong to any religious organization at all! Do not support them, do not recognize them. They are all legal entities of the Beast! Therefore the Beast controls them! You can plainly see that they are NOT following the commands of God, furthermore, they are telling you that you do not have to either, sound familiar? That's right, just follow Chrisendoms laws or whatever Church you belong too and you will be saved, NOT! You will die in your sins, you will experience the wrath of God, read Revelation chapters 1 and 2! Yeshua speaks to you there, to the congregations. Tell me, what are the difference between the congregations He blessed and the ones He cursed? The only difference is the ones He blessed followed the commands of God and the ones He cursed DID NOT follow the commands of God.
