As you are learning God's commandments and putting them into action, you will realize that spending time with God is everyday life. Yet, I think it to be good to share what others have done that makes them feel closer to God.
Lessons From History
We clearly see the good and bad things in history. People write their stories as they live out their lives. Their actions and what they have done are recorded on heavenly scrolls. What do you want yours to read? Knowing this, the present time and whatever you are doing right at this moment is more important than your past. Of course you are reading this right now which indeed is a positive step to your spiritual growth.
Famous People
Famous people in history stand out, do they not? By reading their stories we conclude either this was a good or evil person. Yet, in Heaven could it be that the angels are scribes recording your every thought and action? Indeed, how will you be judged? Will you go in pro se or will you have a representative? The famous people in the Bible are there as a testament to you. It speaks of their good deeds and their evil ones.
The Soul
It says in the Bible that the soul dies, the spirit goes out and returns to God who gave it. Yet, Yeshua tells you not to fear those who can kill your body but not the soul? How do we reconcile this?
Ezekiel 18:4 - Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Matthew 10:28 - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Seems like a contradiction, no? I propose a solution. The record in heaven is your true self. This is where "you" actually are. All your thoughts, deeds, memories are recorded in this place and it is your soul. As Ezekiel 18:4 starts out, "all souls are mine" that being God Himself the one speaking. God breathes life into the soul and it is alive and conscious of its own self; either in a fleshly body or a spiritual body. And it doesn't matter where this body is in the universe; it is a living soul by the spirit of God. Yet, the power to breathe the breath of life into the soul rests with God; and the power to remove the breath of life and the soul altogether, rests with God.
Genetics
I presume that there is more to genetics that what we assume. When we examine the genome we are fascinated about the information contained therein. It is studied and there are all sorts of discoveries that excite us, like it is programmed from the very start. The beginning is foretelling the end within the gene. Yet, think of it this way, that information came from some place otherworldly; all that information recorded on a heavenly scroll; which indeed is the best data center of all eternity.
Kill The Body But Not The Soul
Now, the Son of Man knew all about this didn't He? He indeed was God, the Almighty, the Great Geneticist Designer, the Great Programmer if you will. So He knew the difference between the body and the genetic makeup and soul of the person. Yes every fiber and non fiber of our being.
John 2:25 - And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
The Soul Is The Heart
Check out these scriptures here, Heart and Soul are used interchangeably by humans and this is no accident. The Bible speaks of God writing His laws not just on tablets of stone but directly upon the heart or soul — meaning the inner being, the center of a person's thoughts, will, genetics, and conscience. This concept appears in both the Old and New Testaments and is central to the New Covenant. In our incorruptible, immortal bodies this will become a reality!
“But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Jeremiah 31:33
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” Ezekiel 36:26,27
“Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.” 2 Corinthians 3:3
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” Hebrews 8:10
Spending Time With God
It will be nice when the above prophecies come true. However, we circle around to our theme, "How can you spend time with God?", how can you change the scrolls about you in Heaven? Keep His commandments, when you lie down, when you get up, when you travel; tell them to your sons and daughters, friends and family. You spend time with God by living your life that way!

Here are a few ideas that others do that helps them feel closer to God.
- Write songs or Poetry about God
- Write the Bible in your own handwriting
- Blog about God or create videos about your spiritual journey with God
- Distribute Bibles freely to the Public
- Meet with other followers of Yeshua, if indeed there are any in your area.
- Baptize followers of Yeshua in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost
- Collaborate with other followers of Yeshua about Bible topics
- Stay out of politics, Yeshua's Kingdom is no part of this world
- Make tassels
- Make signs of Commandments and hang them on your doorways
- Cook delicious Kosher meals
- Make Holy clothing of one type of material, Linen, Cotton, just make sure they are not mixed fibers.
In all you do, observe the Commandments of God, never trust in your own understanding and definitely not the understanding of other people.
