Preparing for Shavuot — also known as the Feast of Weeks — involves both spiritual readiness and practical observance. Shavuot commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and also marks the wheat harvest in Israel. Get ready for June 2nd! Here’s a Biblical, spiritual, and practical guide to prepare for it:

🕊️ SPIRITUAL PREPARATION

1. Reflect on the Torah

  • Shavuot marks the giving of the Ten Commandments at Sinai (Exodus 19–20).

  • Read and meditate on:

    • Exodus 19–20 (The Giving of the Torah)

    • Leviticus 23:15–22 (Feast instructions)

    • Deuteronomy 16:9–12 (Command to remember bondage and rejoice)

    • Acts 2 (Fulfillment of Shavuot with the Holy Spirit — Pentecost)

2. Count the Omer

  • If you haven’t already, traditionally you count 50 days from the day after the Sabbath during Unleavened Bread (Leviticus 23:15–16).

  • This daily counting helps prepare your heart and mind to receive from God.

3. Examine Yourself

  • Ask: “Am I ready to receive the Word of God as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai?”

  • Repent of known sin and purify yourself (Exodus 19:10–11).

  • Prepare as if you are about to hear God’s voice from the mountain again.

🍞 PRACTICAL OBSERVANCE

1. Rest Day / Sabbath

  • Shavuot is a Holy Convocation — no regular work is to be done (Leviticus 23:21).

2. Gathering of Believers

  • Hold a solemn assembly or gathering (even with just your family or community).

  • Read the Ten Commandments aloud.

3. Offerings

  • In Temple times, two loaves of leavened bread were waved before God (Leviticus 23:17).

  • While we don’t offer animal sacrifices, we can:

    • Offer praise and thanksgiving

    • Share meals with others

    • Give special gifts or offerings to the poor (Deuteronomy 16:11)

4. Rejoicing Before YHWH

  • Shavuot is a joyful feast — rejoice before the Lord!

  • Include everyone: men, women, children, strangers, orphans, and widows (Deut. 16:11)

🔥 MESSIANIC INSIGHT

  • On Shavuot, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the believers in Acts 2 — this is not a coincidence. God gave the Torah at Sinai, and later gave His Spirit at Jerusalem, both on the same appointed day.

  • Prepare to receive renewed fire, understanding, and boldness in your walk with Yeshua.
