The deadly wound of Revelation 13:3, in the historicist interpretation, is one of the most significant prophetic markers tying the end of Daniel 7’s “little horn” period to the beast’s revival in Revelation. But we do not think this is correct to tie in the deadly wound to the power of Papacy Rome. Let me explain.
1️⃣ The Prophecy
Revelation 13:3 says:
“And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.”
Historicists connect this with the end of the 1,260-year reign of the little horn from Daniel 7:25:

Time, times, and half a time = 1,260 prophetic days = 1,260 literal years.

Beginning: 538 AD — Papal Rome’s political supremacy begins after the Ostrogoths are driven from Rome.

End: 1798 AD — Papal Rome loses its civil power.
However, this might not be correct to tie in the deadly wound of the beast here. Although it might fulfill the end of the end of the 1260 years, it might have a better fit for Israel becoming a nation in 1948 after being utterly destroyed in 70AD. Linking the "death stroke" of the beast to the 3.5 years or 42 months (1260 Years) might not be the right thing to do. It seems like there is no time period given from the time it receives the death stroke to the time it is revived. So the time, times and dividing of times does not seem to fit this #prophecy and may be a false assumption.

After many years of research and Gods Grace, I believe I have identified successfully Mystery Babylon as mentioned in the book of Revelation 17.

Napoleon Bonaparte was expanding French revolutionary influence across Europe.

The Catholic Church was seen as a political opponent because it resisted revolutionary ideals.

Napoleon ordered his general Louis-Alexandre Berthier to enter Rome.

February 10, 1798: Berthier took Pope Pius VI prisoner.

The pope was exiled to France, where he died in captivity in 1799.

The Papal States (the pope’s territorial rule) were declared abolished.
This was effectively an end to papal civil authority. The pope still had religious followers, but no sovereign political power.
3️⃣ Why This Fits the “Time Times and Dividing of Time”

Papal Rome’s political sovereignty had lasted from 538–1798 — exactly 1,260 years.

The prophecy in Daniel indicated that the time period would be 1260 years.

The papacy survived as a religious institution, but its temporal power was removed. Coincidentally, this reminds us of Judaism the political power destroyed in 70 AD (The Beast Death Stroke) but the religion survived only to be revived as a nation in 1948 where everyone was in awe over their "resurrection" and still talk about it today.
4️⃣ The Healing
Historicists point to 1929 as a key stage of the healing for the ones that think this points to the Vatican:

Lateran Treaty signed between Mussolini’s Italian government and the Vatican.

Vatican City recognized as a sovereign state.

Papal political independence restored.

Since then, the pope’s influence has grown globally, not by medieval military power, but through diplomacy, religious authority, and international alliances (Peaceful Deception).
Yet, the fact of the matter is that the Papacy survived even though it's political authority was taken away in 1798 AD. So this is a weak interpretation on it's face of the death stroke being healed. The book of Daniel stands alone in the fulfillment of it's prophecy, Revelation seems to be speaking of something totally different. There is no time period given between the death stroke of the beast and it's healing. So it appears that this in conjecture on the part of many sincere minded people.
5️⃣ Prophetic Implications

The wound = loss of civil power in 1798.

The healing = restoration of global influence (1929 onward).

Revelation says after the healing, “all the world wondered after the beast” — and today, the papacy enjoys unprecedented global respect, meeting with presidents, kings, and the UN.
But think of it, when Mussolini recognized the Vatican as a sovereign state in 1929, no one was saying, who can make war with them; as if they were this great military power.
So, there is something strange here. The prophecy indicates that this beast has military might and the whole world would be in fear of it. This does not match just Papal Rome itself, so we will try to put this altogether in the next posts.
